About The Position

Supervises carpenters and painters and oversees operation of the carpentry and paint shop. This role is responsible for supervising a team of carpenters and painters, overseeing shop operations, and contributing to high-quality construction, renovation, and maintenance projects across Geisinger's campuses. The hours for this position are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with potential weekend and holiday work as needed. The goal is to help create and maintain environments conducive to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

Supervises carpentry and paint shop personnel.
Assigns work.
Inspects completed work.
Acts as a resource for section personnel.
Provides information concerning policy or procedure changes.
Promotes safety.
Conducts training.
Completes performance evaluations and handles disciplinary actions.
Provides staffing and scheduling to meet departmental needs.
Remains aware of project priorities to allocate resources for timely completion.
Interviews candidates and makes hiring recommendations.
Reviews completed work orders, including time and work.
Completes reports as required.
Develops procedures for carpentry and paint section.
Ensures inventory of materials and supplies are maintained to meet workload needs.
Maintains inventory of tools and equipment.
Ensures that tools and equipment remain in safe operating condition.
Provides for repair and maintenance as required.
Tracks daily budget activities, expense, capital equipment, etc.
Provides input to management for annual budget planning.
Inspects interior and exteriors of buildings on a regular basis.
Maintains records of requisitions, man hours and materials used on each project, daily assignments, daily personnel reports and type of materials used in all areas of hospital.
Evaluates and recommends new products.
