About The Position

The Supervisor of the Business Office at Linden Oaks Hospital is responsible for overseeing and coordinating front-end revenue cycle operations, including registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and financial counseling. This role requires advanced computer skills for preparing complex documents and reports. The position also involves demonstrating an understanding of patient needs and providing age-appropriate care. The supervisor will manage various functions for Linden Oaks services, including scheduling, registration, insurance verification, financial counseling, reception, and clerical support. Key responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining department personnel, as well as providing direction on complex work issues, resolving complaints, and responding to inquiries. The role also contributes to the development of departmental policies, procedures, and budgets, working collaboratively with management on new protocols and changes. Coaching staff to optimize customer satisfaction and preparing monthly operational reports are also essential duties. The supervisor will monitor the budget, resolve variances, and collaborate on the annual operating budget. Organizing workloads to meet deadlines and staying current with industry trends through reading and seminars are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • CPI within 90 days of hire
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a business office or finance/accounting environment

  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience
  • Minimum of three years of behavioral health experience
  • Minimum three years of health care experience
  • Crisis line of crisis intervention experience
  • Substantial knowledge base of insurance plans such as Commercia, Managed Care and capitated plans, Medicare, Medicaid and Workers Compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and coordinating the front end revenue cycle including registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and financial counseling.
  • Utilizing advanced microcomputer software skills to prepare complex correspondence, reports, charts, tables and forms.
  • Demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
  • Overseeing scheduling, registration, insurance verification, financial counseling, reception area and clerical support for Linden Oaks services.
  • Interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, evaluating the performances of and, when necessary, disciplining and/or discharging department personnel.
  • Providing direction, as necessary, to staff regarding sensitive and/or complex work, related problems, resolving complaints and responding to inquiries regarding department operations.
  • Providing input into the development of departmental policies, procedures and budgets.
  • Works in conjunction with management in development of new protocols, changes or deletions and arranges discussions at department section meetings.
  • Coaching staff on ways to optimize customer satisfaction external and internal.
  • Preparing monthly reports regarding operations, such as volumes, referral sources, charity care for assessments and money collections.
  • Monitoring budget and resolves variances monthly.
  • Collaborating with manager/director when developing annual operating budget.
  • Organizing work load to comply with deadlines and priorities.
  • Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals, and other literature and attending related seminars.
  • Identifying seminars for staff in areas they may need assistance.
