About The Position

To effect efficient, timely repair and maintenance of the bus fleet so as to assure vehicle availability to meet safety and passenger service requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in the most cost effective manner possible.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive Knowledge of proper mechanical procedures, methods, tools, and techniques necessary to effect proper maintenance and repair of transit bus fleet.
  • Knowledge of diesel technology as it relates to repair and overhaul.
  • Knowledge of transit coach mechanical systems and the synthesis involved in the cohesive operation of those systems.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in Auto or Diesel Technology or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year college or technical degree in Auto or Diesel Technology or related field is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of union staff, to ensure bus fleet is available for service by inspecting, planning, scheduling, and following up on maintenance and repairs.
  • Develop and maintain a vehicle specific preventive and predictive maintenance program.
  • Highly trained and motivated work force.

  • Assure equipment safety.
  • Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.

  • Supervision of union staff, to ensure the daily fueling, cleaning and parking of bus fleet.
  • Ensure materials are available for maintenance and repairs by ordering parts and out of stock items as needed.
