Founded in 1937, the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) has kept the promise of public housing alive. It has done so by maintaining and modernizing its buildings and enriching the lives of its residents through innovative social services, recreational and educational programs, and job training initiatives. What makes HABC successful is the dedication of its employees and its history of strong leadership. Under the general supervision of the Senior Vice President of Administrative Services, the Supervising-Fleet Technician is responsible for the maintenance and operation of mechanical items such as vehicles (e.g., automobiles and trucks) and specialized equipment (e.g., Bobcats, front-end loaders, backhoes). The employee is also responsible for the execution of a preventative maintenance program, mechanical repairs, body work, and contract/Purchase Order administration for the fleet. Technical knowledge and independent judgment are required in formulating and interpreting plans, scheduling tasks, and in the inspection and evaluation of work performed by staff and contractors. Acts as an agent for HABC. All activities must support the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (“HABC” or “Authority”) mission, strategic goals, and objectives.
