The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one regular, full-time position in the class of Supervising Parks and Facilities Maintenance Worker at the General Services department. The ideal candidate is an experienced parks or public works professional with demonstrated success in supervising maintenance, operations, or natural resources staff within a public agency or comparable organization. This individual brings a strong background in coordinating daily park operations, facility stewardship, and preventive and corrective maintenance programs, with a proven ability to lead crews, prioritize workload, and ensure safe, high-quality public service delivery. A key component of the ideal candidate’s experience includes the development, implementation, and tracking of deferred maintenance plans and capital improvement needs. The successful candidate understands how to assess facility conditions, prioritize backlog maintenance, and translate those needs into actionable work plans, budget recommendations, and long-term asset preservation strategies. This position requires experience planning and assigning work, evaluating performance, managing schedules, and ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, and departmental policies. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable operating in a supervisory capacity that includes administrative responsibilities such as budget input, procurement coordination, contract oversight, and reporting. The successful individual must exercise independent judgment, resolve operational issues in the field, and serve as a liaison between management and field staff. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to mentor staff and foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
