About The Position

(United), now part of Aecon Group Inc., is seeking an enthusiastic Supervising Mechanical Engineer with experience supporting Nuclear Power Projects in their Charlotte, NC office. This role involves managing the mechanical engineering and design effort on major power projects from conception through construction and final project closeout. Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for conventional generation (fossil fueled) power plants.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering leadership position.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • Experience with industry standard engineering software such as AFT Fathom and AFT Arrow.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with multi-discipline engineers and designers.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in the US.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements for access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations.

  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in HVAC and Fire Protection design
  • Experience with Autodesk Plant3D

Responsibilities

  • Functioning as the mechanical discipline lead on a project.
  • Acting as the mechanical engineer of record for assigned projects, using professional engineering license to sign and seal mechanical drawings developed under supervision.
  • Developing mechanical calculations, reports, studies, specifications, and design drawings (equipment arrangement, PFD, AFD, P&IDs, isometric drawings) for various systems (water, steam, air, gas, oil).
  • Coordinating interdisciplinary teams of engineers and designers to complete project tasks on schedule and budget.
  • Reviewing relevant codes, design documents, specifications, and construction documents to support project development.
  • Developing material and workhour estimates, as well as engineering and design schedules.
