About The Position

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Superintendent in Hermiston/Umatilla, OR. This role is responsible for all field operations, including the coordination of subcontractors' work. Responsible for all field activities associated with the project, including ultimate responsibility for implementation of Safety/Zero Harm program for the jobsite, supervision of all field construction work by subcontractors and self-performed work. Shares responsibility with the project manager for developing the project budget, actively participating in the preconstruction phase, and ensuring that the project is built on time, within budget, and according to company policies and procedures. Manages and mentors assistant superintendents and other field personnel. 30 hours of OSHA training once every four years, or maintain STS certification.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 10+ years of construction field experience.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Commitment to quality improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and communication tools.

Nice To Haves

  • 30 hours of OSHA training once every four years, or maintain STS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Helps the project manager review and update progress and cost reports, schedules, and requirements for completion on a regular basis
  • Actively participates in development and management of project's general conditions, construction schedule, project planning/phasing, and buyout strategy during preconstruction.
  • Participates in preconstruction planning regarding project schedule and budget. Reviews project estimates and cost control systems.
  • Communicates expectations regarding schedules, methods, policies, permits, safety, sustainability, quality control, and performance standards.
  • Participates in subcontract scopes and pre-bid/post-bid meetings.
  • Understands project specifications, contract documents, and quality requirements.
  • Advises on methods, materials, schedules, and procedures while ensuring testing requirements are met and documented.
  • Ensures project site and company assets are secure.
  • Manages safety, sustainability, EEO, risk management, training, and quality control programs.
  • Manages employee and subcontractor performance issues.
  • Reviews and approves bills and requisitions.
  • Facilitates progress and safety meetings.
  • Keeps owners and architects informed of progress.
  • Ensures project closeout is completed successfully.
  • Builds effective relationships with customers, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups.
  • Makes presentations to seek new business opportunities.
  • Promotes company values and vision.
  • Develops employees through coaching, development plans, and feedback.
  • Negotiates effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates integrity and commitment to customer expectations.
