About The Position

Northstar Energy Solutions is looking for an experienced Superintendent to oversee and manage daily operations of data center and battery energy storage system (BESS) construction and maintenance projects. This role ensures that all work is performed in compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards, while managing project timelines and budgets. The Superintendent will supervise field crews, coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers, and be a key figure in resolving site challenges and ensuring successful project delivery.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in heavy electrical, industrial, or infrastructure construction.
• At least 3 years in a supervisory role overseeing field crews and construction operations.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, switchgear, transformers, and installation techniques.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and industry standards (OSHA, NEC, NFPA 855).
• Proven ability to manage multiple teams, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of BESS/data center construction sequencing, including site work, structural, electrical equipment installation, and commissioning phases.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to provide clear direction to crews.
• Experience coordinating work across multiple disciplines (civil, structural, electrical, mechanical) and subcontractors.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple concurrent projects.
• Ability to communicate project status, risks, and issues clearly to clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to active job sites as needed, with a valid driver's license (CDL preferred).

Nice To Haves

• Direct experience with BESS, data center, or renewable energy/substation projects strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the construction, installation, and commissioning of BESS facilities, data center electrical infrastructure, and related equipment (switchgear, transformers, battery enclosures, inverters, and balance-of-system components).
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, enforcing safety protocols to protect personnel and public safety, including battery safety, arc-flash, and energized work procedures.
• Manage multiple field crews, providing leadership, guidance, and performance feedback.
• Coordinate with project managers to ensure project milestones, deadlines, and budgets are met.
• Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and drawings (civil, electrical, and mechanical) to provide clear instructions to teams.
• Ensure work is completed according to technical specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, including manufacturer commissioning protocols for BESS/data center equipment.
• Communicate regularly with clients, contractors, equipment OEMs, and stakeholders to address project progress and resolve any issues.
