About The Position

The Superintendent provides on-site supervision and coordination for all phases of multi-family and custom home construction projects. They are responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in strict accordance with approved plans, specifications, and local codes. This role involves overseeing all subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and assigned staff on site, ensuring adequate manpower, quality workmanship, and schedule compliance. The Superintendent will conduct daily and periodic walkthroughs to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in residential construction supervision.

  • Strong leadership and conflict-resolution skills for managing 30+ subcontractors and vendors.
  • Fundamental understanding of all facets/phases of construction is preferred.

  • Provide direction to and resolve problems amongst (upwards) 30+ subcontractors and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling and managing Burkentine self-perform crews, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors.
  • Monitoring field activities for quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Coordinating with the project team (i.e., superiors, architect, engineer, consultant, owner) to resolve plan conflicts before work proceeds.
  • Enforcing site quality control and maintaining organized, safe job sites.
  • Overseeing all subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and assigned Burkentine staff on site.
  • Ensuring adequate manpower, quality workmanship, and schedule compliance.
  • Conducting daily and periodic walkthroughs to monitor progress, quality and safety compliance.
  • Creating and managing the overall project schedule, updated daily.
  • Maintaining a rolling 3-week look-ahead schedule.
  • Leading daily work huddles and weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Coordinating inspections with local jurisdictions.
  • Monitoring work for adherence to plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Identifying and resolving deficiencies promptly.
  • Issuing notices of non-compliance as needed.
  • Leading and Reporting on Weekly Toolbox Talks.
  • Completing Routine (Weekly) E&S Reports and as required (Rain Event with 1/4” of Precipitation).
  • Maintaining clean, organized job sites daily.
  • Tracking ASIs, RFIs, and material submittals.
  • Coordinating, Receiving, and Auditing Material Deliveries.
  • Keeping a daily written log of site activities.
  • Preparing a weekly comprehensive report of the site, including the submission of pictures as required by management.
  • Reporting conflicts and schedule impacts to the project team within 24 Hours.
  • Attending construction, sales, and leasing meetings as required.
  • Liaising with Home Buyers and the Property management team regarding the status of the project.
  • Walking all units daily for progress monitoring and planning.
  • Overseeing punch list completion and homeowner/client satisfaction.
  • Performing superintendent duties across multiple lots as needed.
  • Gathering and maintaining material submittals and approvals.
  • Reviewing and Approving Invoices.
  • Submitting Monthly Purchase Reports at specified reporting interval.
  • Coordinating unit specifications with marketing.
  • Participating in subcontractor pre-construction meetings.
  • Opening and securing job sites daily.
  • Performing General Labor as required or directed by your supervisor.
