About The Position

The Superintendent plays a critical leadership role in the successful execution of FLINT's construction, maintenance, and industrial projects. This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with client expectations, project schedules, and quality standards. Working collaboratively with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and operational leadership, the Superintendent provides direction, mentorship, and support to field personnel while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to effectively balance client needs, workforce management, and project performance. Requirements

  • Alberta Journeyperson Certificate (or provincial equivalent), or registered Apprentice with a recognized provincial training authority.
  • Valid WHMIS, CSTS, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, and Confined Space certifications.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial construction or maintenance environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude, including the ability to read and interpret drawings and complex instructions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and productive work practices.
  • Ability to effectively lead teams while managing client relationships and project priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee daily project activities to ensure safe, productive, and efficient operations by providing supervision, guidance, and direction to employees, leading field execution activities, ensuring compliance with policies, acting as a key point of contact, and supporting project objectives.
  • Support project success through effective planning, coordination, and resource management by developing and maintaining project schedules, monitoring progress, estimating labor requirements, coordinating subcontractor activities, and ensuring work is completed according to project requirements and quality expectations.
  • Promote a culture where safety and quality are always the highest priorities by championing the Safety Management System, leading implementation of safety programs, conducting site inspections, identifying and addressing potential hazards, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Build strong partnerships and support team growth by maintaining positive, client-focused relationships, coaching and mentoring employees, providing leadership that promotes accountability and high performance, communicating effectively, and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure operational and project documentation requirements are completed by managing claims, invoices, and project-related documentation, maintaining accurate records and reporting, supporting project reviews, and completing additional projects as required.
