About The Position

This position is for the Roads and Drainage Traffic Engineering Department. The Superintendent, Roads and Drainage (Sign Shop) manages, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work, and manages the maintenance, repair, and construction of County roads, bridges, and rights-of-way. This role also involves monitoring and inspecting project plans, performing financial tasks related to department operations, and responding to complaints and inquiries. Experience in Traffic Signs and Marking is needed, and knowledge of the MUTCD is preferred.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Construction Management or related field required.
  • Three years of experience in roads construction and maintenance.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • Experience in Traffic Signs and Marking is needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience/Knowledgeable using the MUTCD is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, including developing work schedules, reviewing timesheets, addressing employee concerns, and conducting performance appraisals.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work to subordinates, ensuring they have the necessary resources and monitoring the status and quality of completed work.
  • Manages the maintenance, repair, and construction of County roads, bridges, and rights-of-way, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency, and compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Monitors and inspects project plans, reviews blueprints, assists with procurement of materials, monitors project timelines, and provides updates on project status.
  • Performs financial tasks, including assisting in budget development and administration, monitoring expenditures, preparing cost projections, and developing specifications for materials and equipment.
  • Receives and responds to complaints and inquiries, resolving difficult issues that cannot be handled by subordinates, and maintaining related records and reports.
