About The Position

Valero is seeking a Superintendent Operations to supervise operations in the most efficient, reliable, and safe manner possible to ensure that all plant economic planning, production and HS&E objectives are optimized. This role is crucial in advancing the future of energy through innovation, ingenuity, and unmatched execution.

Requirements

  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Memphis Refinery.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 10 years of refinery operations experience is required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise operations and direct daily and long-range operation activities, including reviewing/writing/prioritizing of daily and permanent work orders.
  • Maintain inventories and monitor usage of operating supplies, consumable safety supplies, and miscellaneous supplies.
  • Cooperate with all refinery departments, including other Unit Superintendents, to meet operational objectives.
  • Monitor performance to maximize capabilities and efficiency.
  • Prepare expense and capital budgets, monitor expenditures, and prepare budget reports.
  • Participate in setting objectives in turnaround and shutdown planning; generate work lists, blind lists, etc.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance and maintain operational files for logs, equipment, personnel, turnaround, and shutdown histories.
  • Participate extensively in managing and implementing PSM, MOCA, and HAZOP guidelines and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot/solve unit operational and maintenance problems.
  • Monitor employee situations which require knowledge of Company policies and procedures.
  • Work with Operators in implementing team management style and all other aspects of supervisor employee relations.
  • Review operational data and lab analysis daily and cooperate with Laboratory, Pumping, and Product Control personnel to ensure product quality and the disposition of products and the availability of feedstocks.
  • Develop and provide necessary operator training in operations and safety with the assistance of the Training and Safety Departments.
  • Work with the Environmental Department to maintain all environmental regulations.
  • Attend daily Complex meeting and communicate to operating personnel daily guidelines orally and written to maintain effective and efficient operations.
