About The Position

This is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the street and sewer maintenance departments. The role involves preparing and establishing work programs and procedures, directly and indirectly supervising employees across various groups within the division (SIMR garage, traffic, public parking, streets, and sewer maintenance), and preparing and administering the division's budget.

Requirements

  • Skills in personnel management.
  • Skills in engineering and surveying procedures.
  • Knowledge of street and sewer locations.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of asset management software.
  • Knowledge of City, State and Federal laws.
  • Knowledge of road construction and sewer construction procedures.
  • Knowledge of municipal budget procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in a related field preferred.
  • Five to seven years prior experience or any combination of formal education and work experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the overall operations of street and sewer maintenance departments.
  • Prepares and establishes work programs and procedures.
  • Directly and indirectly supervises employees in the SIMR garage, traffic, public parking, streets and sewer maintenance groups.
  • Prepares and administers the budget for the division’s many operational groups.
  • Reviews and approves specifications and bid documents for acquisition of equipment and supplies.
  • Conducts field reviews of ongoing and proposed projects.
  • Supervises operations during emergency weather conditions.
  • Reviews, approves, and prioritizes work programs for the different groups within the division.
  • Administers asset management software.
  • Serves as a member of the county LEPC.
  • Is required to be on-call and/or carry a pager and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
