The Superintendent/Foreman oversees daily site operations for Earthwork projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, design specifications, budget constraints, and project timelines. This role directly manages lead personnel and on-site staff to drive efficiency and quality. A Day in the Life includes daily communication with General Superintendents regarding job-specific needs, workforce and equipment requirements, and daily contact with job site crews to ensure project time schedule and workforce needs are met. This role also schedules and monitors subcontractors, maintains a safe working environment by identifying and correcting hazards, and ensures employees have up-to-date safety information. Responsibilities include conducting daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly Tool Box topics, as well as completing daily record keeping such as logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, and timecards. The role manages field personnel fairly and equitably, addresses staff performance issues, and participates in pre-construction and job site meetings. Additionally, the Superintendent/Foreman provides timely and accurate documentation for safety issues, equipment damage, and workplace injuries, ensures all work follows specified quality standards, and responds to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members. Regular participation in training for construction methods and safety, and supporting training opportunities for staff are also key aspects of this role. The individual keeps their supervisor informed of any known actions that may affect their ability to perform assignments or adversely affect company operations.
