About The Position

The Superintendent Finance role offers the opportunity to support the management accounting function, ensuring timely and accurate financial information is provided to department managers. This role is responsible for leading initiatives that continuously improve onsite reporting processes and implementing effective cost control solutions and practices to optimise mine cash flow. This role is to recruit for an existing vacancy. The roster will be 5 days on / 2 days off and 4 days on / 3 days off (9.5 hours) and is a local role eligible for housing support by Taxable Benefit. Whilst residential is preferred, the role is also open to a hybrid arrangement. We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth. The compensation range for this role is $160,000 to $195,000 CAD.

Requirements

  • Relevant Bachelor in Accounting/Finance or equivalent
  • CA/CPA qualification
  • Proven track record as a Commercial/Finance Superintendent or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years Commercial experience.
  • Experience in a heavy industry sector is essential, ideally mining.
  • Strong numerical and analytical mindset.
  • Quality, continuous improvement and pro-active planning capabilities.
  • Ability to present and communicate insightful information to varying audiences.
  • Accurate and attentive to detail.
  • Adapts and copes well with change, manages pressure effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills and a good track record in people management
  • Ability to build credibility, lead change and influence operational management.
  • Financial Modelling (NPV)
  • Strong report/financial commentary writing and presentation skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional computer skills, particularly MS Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of month end close activities and provision of accurate and timely financial submissions in line with the site / group reporting schedule timelines.
  • Preparation of monthly internal reporting, ensuring it is accurate and completed on time (department cost reports and site reports)
  • Regular liaison with business units to ensure full understanding of business performance and financial results
  • Maintain / monitor cost control systems which support the site to operate within Board approved operational and capital expenditure budgets.
  • Analysis of material and consumables usages, presenting data on a monthly basis to management to drive tighter cost control in the business
  • Preparation of the Red Lake and North American cash flow forecast including analysis of site funding requirements and managing transactional banking platform
  • Prepare and execution commodity sales and FX trading requirements
  • Maintain systems / frameworks to deliver the annual Budget, periodic forecasts and LOM plans, including provision of timely and insightful analysis, which maximises the risk adjusted value of RLO in line with corporate guidance.
  • Provide the business with relevant financial support to enable effective planning while applying moderate budgeting and forecasting techniques.
  • Ensure direct reports understand role expectations and performance measures, are equipped with the necessary skills, training and information, and are supported in their ongoing professional development.
