About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Superintendent with a strong commitment to safety and superior quality. This is a long-term career opportunity to manage construction projects from the field. The ideal candidate will have 5-25 years of experience leading ground-up, commercial or light industrial construction projects. You will manage the construction and administrative activities associated with the field operations of a project, ensuring completion on schedule, within budget, and according to project specifications.

Requirements

  • 5-25 years of construction experience.
  • Last 5 years as lead superintendent on warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, and/or cold storage projects.
  • Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, and project scheduling programs.
  • Possess and maintain a current, valid driver license in your state of residence.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing or walking for long periods, sometimes on uneven terrain, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and proficiency working with an iPad or similar tablet highly preferred.
  • Willing to travel minimally within the Southeast Region.

Responsibilities

  • Attend post-award review meetings for project information and preplanning.
  • Participate with the project manager in preparing construction schedules, organization structure, staff selection, and manpower/equipment requirements.
  • Direct and control construction projects to meet specifications, stay within schedule, and achieve expected profit.
  • Assist the project manager/engineer with duties including material shipment, permanent equipment, and shop drawing/material sample approvals.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities for effective performance and integration with project schedules.
  • Inform supervisors and subcontractors of construction schedule changes.
  • Assist in preparing job progress and cost reports.
  • Review and approve requisitions, field purchase orders, invoices, and other significant reports and documents.
  • Cooperate with the owner and representatives, providing updates on construction progress.
  • Cooperate with architects or owner representatives on an amicable basis in the long-term interest of the company.
  • Hold job site meetings with the project manager and regional manager.
  • Report regularly to the project manager on job progress, plans, and potential cost/schedule impacts.
  • Maintain a daily diary of significant project facts, events, conditions, visitors, owner contacts, commitments, agreements, and approvals.
  • Direct adherence to the company’s safety program in all project phases and areas.
  • Make decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Organize people, tools, and equipment; plan and manage multiple activities to achieve desired results.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, facing challenges, directing others, and addressing conflict.
  • Exhibit commitment to quality by evaluating processes, making changes, using customer input, and meeting/exceeding expectations.
  • Act with integrity, supporting the company, its values, and employees while focusing on customer requirements.
