About The Position

The company is seeking an engineering intern to join its Water Business Line in the Austin or San Antonio office. This role focuses on protecting natural environments and water resources, while powering the world for future generations, by addressing the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering, or another closely related academic discipline.
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, and practices related to water/wastewater/stormwater.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship or coursework in water/wastewater, water resources, or related sectors.
  • EIT certification.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, and design projects for water, wastewater, and stormwater treatment and conveyance, including pipelines and pumping facilities.
  • Assess, develop, and support the management of sustainability and resilience projects, including conducting vulnerability and mitigation assessments.
  • Plan and design utilities, municipalities, and cities.
  • Perform essential fieldwork activities such as conducting field site visits, collecting samples, performing water quality analyses, evaluating technologies, and gathering plant operations information.
  • Troubleshoot processes and optimize operations.
  • Support asset management projects by conducting data analytics, operational and organizational assessments, condition assessments, and overall performance evaluations of water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities.
  • Support preparation of reports, presentations, and other audio-visual materials.
  • Participate in client meetings.
  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality, health and safety standards.
  • Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects on time and budget.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, with the flexibility to accommodate collaboration with team members across the U.S. and internationally.
  • Learn and use digital tools to enhance customer experience, team and client collaboration, and project delivery including configuration and deployment of SharePoint, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Power BI, and Augmented Reality.
