About The Position

Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) has an opening for an Interpreting Services Summer Student (Canada Summer Jobs). This is a virtual 8-week summer position where the student will work collaboratively with department staff to support a range of administrative duties, office operations, and Interpreting Services-related projects. Applicants must be in or support the Belleville location.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to details required
  • American Sign Language (ASL) skills are required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a highly confidential environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Must be legally eligible for employment in Canada

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with Culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened or hard of hearing individuals an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with outreach projects
  • Indexing and collating of resource materials
  • Assist department staff with daily program tasks and projects e.g. recordkeeping/reports, updating documents, research, etc.
  • Conduct internet searches
  • Build community and service provider distribution lists
