SUMMER STUDENT INTERNSHIP
About The Position
The City of Palatka is seeking High School students for our Summer Internship Program who are interested in learning aspects of public relations and local government. The interns selected for these positions will learn key points of the field and gain work-life experience to prepare them for the future. It is essential that the applicant have excellent communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details. Interns will assist in one of the following departments: City Clerk's Office, Planning and Zoning, Community Affairs (Parks & Recreation), Palatka Municipal Airport, Police Department, Human Resources, Public Works, Fire Department, or Engineering.
Requirements
- Must currently be enrolled in high school
- Have the ability to work flexible summer hours
- Excellent communications skills
- Demonstrate creativity
- Understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details
Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls
- Filing
- Scanning
- Assist with mailing and print production
- Create and update databases
- Keep site clean, safe and functioning
- Set up equipment, water stations, coolers and keep all camp spaces well maintained
- Organize summer events and activities, on site
- Complete errands to stores for supplies
- Additional duties as assigned may be required depending on job placement
