About The Position

Summer students will assist solid waste employees with a variety of light-duty, labour-based tasks that support landfill, recycling, and facility operations.

Requirements

Legally entitled to work in Canada without limitations
Must have a valid driver’s license, class 5 minimum
Have a desire to learn the aspects of water and wastewater operations
Students must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite
Must provide their own steel-toed footwear
Valid license, Class 5 minimum
Driver’s abstract satisfactory to the employer
Pass 50 lb. fitness test
Pass comprehensive drug and alcohol test

Responsibilities

Paint buildings, fencing, bins, and other solid waste assets
Grass cutting, trimming, and general groundskeeping
Litter picking and site clean-up at landfill, transfer stations, and surrounding areas
Assist with general maintenance and upkeep of solid waste facilities and equipment
Light-duty labour tasks as assigned by solid waste operations employees
Support recycling and waste diversion initiatives as required
Work safely and cooperatively as part of a team in an outdoor environment
Understand and follow safety regulations and work to a high level of safety
Contribute towards building a strong team
