About The Position

The Multicultural Agency of the Greater Moncton Area (MAGMA) is the largest Settlement Agency in southeastern New Brunswick, dedicated to supporting immigrants as they arrive, settle, and build new homes. This opportunity provides an exciting chance for a Summer Student to positively impact children's lives by fostering a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where children feel cared for and engaged. The role offers hands-on experience working with children, the development of strong communication and leadership skills, and the chance to be part of a supportive team that values creativity, connection, and play. Responsibilities include leading activities, assisting with daily routines, encouraging healthy habits, and promoting social interaction, providing meaningful moments and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English, additional languages are an asset.
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen, PR or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred and legally entitled to work.
  • Must not be an international student on a study permit or the holder of a work permit.
  • Required to obtain a clear Vulnerable Sector Record Check and Social Development Check
  • You will be required to present your social insurance number (SIN) upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Help supervise and engage children in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment
  • Assist in planning and leading age-appropriate activities such as games, crafts, and storytelling
  • Support children with daily routines, including snack time, hand washing, and transitions between activities
  • Promote positive behavior and help children build social and emotional skills
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the childminding space
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents/guardians, and fellow team members
  • Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures as required
  • Be a positive role model by encouraging kindness, cooperation, and respect
