About The Position

This position serves the Facilities and Maintenance department in order to maintain a high level of service to the community. The successful candidate will strive to provide high quality maintenance and service work to the Edmonton Humane Society.

Requirements

  • Completed a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in building maintenance operations would be considered an asset
  • Experience with power and hand tools would be an asset
  • Valid CPR/First Aid would be an asset
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with little supervision
  • Physically capable of bending, stretching, sitting, and standing for long periods, as well as climbing ladders and working in congested spaces
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Comfortable working in a building alongside various companion animals such as dogs, cats, and rabbits

Responsibilities

  • Assist in handling basic repairs and maintenance
  • Receive, and restock all areas with required supplies
  • Assist the facilities crew with daily tasks
  • Assist facilities crew in conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment
  • Follow safe working practices and make appropriate use of related safety equipment as required
  • Assist in monitoring inventory and reporting low supplies
  • Assist with donation sorting and stock rotation
  • Safely operate a variety of standard power tools and equipment (lawn mower, electric hedge clipper, edger, tiller, etc.)
  • Adjust, clean, and perform minor mechanical work on grounds equipment
  • Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing debris from sidewalks and exterior of buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment
  • Perform custodial activities under the direction of the Manager, Infrastructure (mopping, polishing, dusting)
  • Assist in maintaining maintenance records and receipts, and ensure proper follow-up of all maintenance contracts as directed by the Manager of Infrastructure
  • Other duties as assigned
