About The Position
This position serves the Facilities and Maintenance department in order to maintain a high level of service to the community. The successful candidate will strive to provide high quality maintenance and service work to the Edmonton Humane Society.
Requirements
- Completed a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in building maintenance operations would be considered an asset
- Experience with power and hand tools would be an asset
- Valid CPR/First Aid would be an asset
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work effectively with little supervision
- Physically capable of bending, stretching, sitting, and standing for long periods, as well as climbing ladders and working in congested spaces
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Comfortable working in a building alongside various companion animals such as dogs, cats, and rabbits
Responsibilities
- Assist in handling basic repairs and maintenance
- Receive, and restock all areas with required supplies
- Assist the facilities crew with daily tasks
- Assist facilities crew in conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment
- Follow safe working practices and make appropriate use of related safety equipment as required
- Assist in monitoring inventory and reporting low supplies
- Assist with donation sorting and stock rotation
- Safely operate a variety of standard power tools and equipment (lawn mower, electric hedge clipper, edger, tiller, etc.)
- Adjust, clean, and perform minor mechanical work on grounds equipment
- Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing debris from sidewalks and exterior of buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment
- Perform custodial activities under the direction of the Manager, Infrastructure (mopping, polishing, dusting)
- Assist in maintaining maintenance records and receipts, and ensure proper follow-up of all maintenance contracts as directed by the Manager of Infrastructure
- Other duties as assigned
