About The Position

Catholic Youth Camp (CYC) is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join their Summer Staff. This role involves mentoring campers, facilitating faith programming, and instructing various camp activities. The Summer Staff is divided into two main roles: Cabin Staff and FOCA Staff. Cabin Staff serve as direct mentors and role models for campers, spending the most time with them throughout the week. They assist with faith programming, lead small groups, and instruct activities such as the confidence course, archery, and friendship bracelet making. Cabin Staff are responsible for accompanying campers and volunteer counselors throughout their camp experience. FOCA Staff (First Aid / Office / Canteen / Activity) are safety-oriented, certified facilitators responsible for key operational areas including first aid, office/media, canteen/kitchen, and high adventure activities. While managing these areas, they also assist with faith programming and coordinate evening events like Carnival and Talent Show.

Requirements

  • Cabin Staff: Leading a 20-22 person cabin with the assistance of 1-3 volunteer counselors
  • Cabin Staff: Acting as a touchstone and intentional witness of faith for campers throughout the week
  • Cabin Staff: Planning and executing a daily faith program session in conjunction with FOCA Staff
  • Cabin Staff: Engaging in prayer and faith formation with assigned cabin
  • Cabin Staff: Sitting with campers during meals, Mass, and evening programming
  • Cabin Staff: Planning and facilitating cabin competitions and evening programming in conjunction with FOCA Staff
  • Cabin Staff: Caring for the general needs (inventory, restock, cleanliness, etc) of our archery, mini golf, and field game facilities
  • Cabin Staff: Facilitating cabin activities (archery, confidence course, mini golf) with the assistance of volunteer counselors
  • Cabin Staff: Engaging with campers at arts and crafts, field games, or swim time
  • Cabin Staff: Assisting Activity Staff at crate stacker, high adventure, and canoeing
  • Cabin Staff: Participating in meal “hopping” and clean-ups throughout the week
  • Cabin Staff: Engaging with campers throughout morning and bedtime routines
  • Cabin Staff: Sleeping in cabins 2 - 3 nights a week
  • Cabin Staff: Attending morning prayer and meetings each day
  • Cabin Staff: Attending night prayer when not sleeping in the cabins
  • Cabin Staff: Participating in weekly cleaning sessions
  • Cabin Staff: Completing other assignments as directed by the STMC Staff
  • FOCA Staff: Facilitating / Monitoring safety at outdoor activities such as: swimming, canoeing, and high adventure
  • FOCA Staff: Assisting with daily Mass programming (liturgy preparations, AV, music, etc.)
  • FOCA Staff: Planning and executing a daily faith program session in conjunction with Cabin Staff
  • FOCA Staff: Planning and facilitating cabin competitions in conjunction with Cabin Staff
  • FOCA Staff: Engaging with campers at field games as well as evening activities
  • FOCA Staff: Acting as the volunteer directors’ point-person (as assigned) for evening events (gathering supplies, set-up, AV, etc.)
  • FOCA Staff: Assisting Kitchen Staff with meal prep and clean-up at least once a day
  • FOCA Staff: Participating in breakfast “hopping” each morning by sitting with campers
  • FOCA Staff: Engaging with campers throughout bedtime routines
  • FOCA Staff: Sleeping in cabins 2 - 3 nights a week
  • FOCA Staff: Setting up and leading check-in and check-out procedures (registration books, medication management, canteen, etc.)
  • FOCA Staff: Attending morning prayer and meetings each day
  • FOCA Staff: Attending night prayer when not sleeping in cabins
  • FOCA Staff: Participating in weekly cleaning sessions
  • FOCA Staff: Completing other assignments as directed by the STMC Staff
