About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Camp Coordinator at Foothills Area YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families. Oversees and directs program development and delivery to support YMCA objectives. Assists in recruiting, hiring, training and supervising camp staff and volunteers. Maintain effective working relationships with various groups and committees, including parents of campers. Oversees support services for camp, such as registration, administration, food service, and transportation. Leads assigned programs for association and follows and adheres to YMCA standards. Prepares applicable paperwork. Oversees promotion and marketing of camp activities to increase usage of the camp and recruit staff members. Makes decisions related to the welfare, health and safety of all campers and staff. Maintains and enforces all YMCA policies and procedures. Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Meets minimum age standards as established by state law and/or the Y.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required.
  • Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children in a camp setting preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, or recreational games.
  • Previous experience working with diverse populations.
