2026 Summer School Substitute Teacher
About The Position
This position is responsible for teaching the assigned subject and enabling each student to pursue his/her education in the absence of the regular teacher. The substitute teacher will report to the designated individual upon arrival at the school, review lesson plans and schedules, and maintain established routines and procedures. They will teach the lesson plans outlined by the regular classroom teacher, assume responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior, and maintain maximum supervision of assigned students at all times. The substitute will report in writing on the day's activities, follow all policies, rules, and procedures, and remain in the building during assigned hours. They will also model non-discriminatory practices and perform related tasks as deemed necessary by the principal or designee.
Requirements
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- At least 30 semester hours from an accredited institution of higher learning, verified by transcript
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Ability to perform light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions
- Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels
- Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities
- Must work a minimum of 1 day per school year to remain active

Responsibilities

- Remains in the building during the hours assigned as a substitute
- Models non discriminatory practices in all activities
- Performs related tasks as deemed necessary by the principal or designee
Benefits
- Substitute pay $150.00 per day
- Long term assignments (more than 20 days in the same position) will be paid at a higher rate
