About The Position

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission Cross Trainers Academy (CTA) is offering two CTA students 6-week paid Summer School internships. These paid internships are available only for current CTA 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade high school students (including May graduates). Summer School Interns will assist and support the summer school staff and students to help the operational aspects of summer school run efficiently.

Requirements

  • Current CTA 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade high school student (or graduated in May)
  • Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0
  • Good school behavior record
  • Able and willing to take and follow directions from summer staff member
  • Developing organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills
  • Developing collaboration and communication skills
  • Detail-orientated
  • Proficient in certain technology platforms: (examples: Excel, Word, Outlook, Gmail, Google, PowerSchool)
  • Culturally competent and relational, displaying suitable interpersonal communication and mentoring skills with students
  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Accepting of supervisor direction, correction and feedback
  • Enthusiastic with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player
  • Reliable in work attendance and being on time daily
  • Continue developing a genuine concern for the salvation and spiritual welfare for all those encountered through the ministry of MRM, seeking to model and share the hope of the gospel within the established responsibilities of this position.
  • A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive
  • Regular attender of an evangelical church whose theology is in alignment with our Statement of Faith and Statement of Biblical Convictions
  • Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
  • Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test

Responsibilities

  • Clerical tasks: Make copies, sort and collate instructional materials for staff as needed
  • Serve as a “runner” between the summer program and office when needed to transport program materials
  • Pre/post student assessment support in math and reading
  • Assist with student supervision (in the classrooms, cafeteria, gymnasium, outside during recreation time, transit to/from the office, and on field trips)
  • Assist in supporting individual and small-group student sessions involving mentoring, academic tutoring, reading groups, and specials
  • Assist with bus arrival and departure procedures
  • Assist with student cafeteria supervision, snack distribution, and cleaning
  • All other duties as assigned
