About The Position

The Center for Disability Services offers hope, innovation, and achievement to the people they support. For 80 years, they have been one of upstate New York’s largest providers of programs and services for individuals with disabilities, many of which are innovative and not available elsewhere. The organization is searching for a School Psychologist to join their Summer School Program in Schenectady, NY. This position is 3 days/wk with a flexible schedule. The program dates are from July 8th to August 21st, with orientation on July 7th & 8th. Requirements

  • Graduate degree (Masters, Doctorate) in field of School Psychology
  • NYS Certified School Psychologist and/or NYS Licensed Psychologist
  • Less than 1 year of job related experience, specifically in: School Psychology

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive psychological assessments using methods and instruments appropriate to the age and developmental level of the student
  • Provides individual or group counseling when needed
  • Provides feedback on psychological assessments to staff, parents/guardians, and with appropriate counties and school districts
  • Provides behavioral consultation and lead team in development of psychological treatment plans (i.e., behavior plans) and classroom management plans
  • Provides input into educational plans regarding cognitive development, academic development, and adaptive skill development
  • Considers the discipline expertise of other team members and incorporates information in treatment planning and implementation
  • Provides documentation of work to be maintained in student's records
  • Maintains professional and ethical standards and adhere to applicable regulations and laws
  • Requires flexibility in meeting emergency or dire needs of students
  • Remains current in the field by attending conferences and reading professional literature
  • Assists in the After School and School Vacation program by providing behavioral support via consultation, Functional Behavioral Assessment, and Behavior Intervention Plans, as needed
  • May provide services as needed through the Beyond Langan consulting program
  • Provides in-service training to staff as needed
  • If assigned to preschool, must be SPACE trained to train current staff in SPACE
  • Complies with all education laws and regulations; agency and program policies and procedures
  • Attends program, department, and interdisciplinary meetings as needed
