About The Position

Freedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools is a network of PreK-12 free public charter schools serving students in Memphis, TN, and Birmingham, AL. Their mission is to prepare all students in grades PreK-12 to excel in college and in life. Since its founding in 2009, the network has grown to serve over 1950 students across multiple campuses, expanding into Birmingham, AL, in 2024. Freedom Prep is committed to transforming education for students across the South, ensuring access to high-quality educational opportunities. Students have consistently exceeded local and state averages in math and surpassed local benchmarks in English Language Arts on state assessments. Freedom Prep cultivates a structured, academically rigorous environment fostering excellence in core subjects, advanced academic skills, and core values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Excellence, and Community. The academy is hosting summer school for rising Kindergarten - 5th grade students through a summer school grant. The program runs from June 2nd to July 2nd, with working times from 8:00am-2:30pm (requiring arrival by 7:30am and departure after 3pm). It includes 3 full days of professional development orientation prior to the start and additional PD twice per week. Compensation is a one-time $2,000 stipend. Instructional aides will receive a clear and scripted curriculum to assist teachers, coaching on intellectual prep and student work study, and high-level professional development. Students will undergo mandatory pre- and post-assessments to measure growth.
