About The Position

This position is available only to enrolled American University students. Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions. The Summer Research Assistant will support behavioral testing and data collection for experiments involving neurobiology methods such as optogenetics and fiber photometry. Ensure strict adherence to laboratory protocols during study sessions.

Requirements

  • Academic background in Neuroscience or related fields (such as Psychology or Health Studies).
  • Prior research laboratory experience supporting the methods stated above.
  • Strong attention to detail for monitoring behavioral studies.
  • This position is available only to enrolled American University students.

Responsibilities

  • Support behavioral testing.
  • Data collection for experiments involving neurobiology methods such as optogenetics and fiber photometry.
  • Ensure strict adherence to laboratory protocols during study sessions.
