About The Position

The Police Activities League of Southwest Washington (PAL of SWWA) is seeking a collaborative and enthusiastic Summer Recreation Assistant to join our team. This is a part time, temporary, nonexempt position and reports to an assigned Program Coordinator or designee. The position is in-person and located in Clark County, WA. The mission of PAL of SWWA is to foster and facilitate positive relationships between law enforcement and youth.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must Pass a National Criminal Background.
  • Available to commit to scheduled employment dates for the duration of hire.
  • Interested/have previous experience working directly with youth.
  • Interest in collaborating directly with law enforcement.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to be flexible and change quickly depending on the need of a situation.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and First Aid Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting and implementing activities and programs throughout Clark County, WA.
  • Working with a variety of youth, including high-risk students.
  • Creating positive life experiences for PAL youth from a variety of walks of life.
  • Ensuring youth are safe, engaged, and building meaningful relationships.
  • Implementing both sports and high school CSI summer camps.
  • Ensuring a collaborative work environment with peers, youth, law enforcement, and community partners.
  • Promoting program participation and leading others by example.
  • Providing guidance and role modeling to youth and peers as needed.
  • Communicating with youth parents’ and/or guardians’.
  • Implementing effective strategies relating to youth disciplinary policies and procedures.
  • Providing a safe environment through clear rules and expectations.
  • Completing required reports and documentation.

Benefits

  • Compensation $18.00/hour
  • Dates of employment June 22nd – July 31st

  • 15-20 hours per week, typical schedule is M-F 8 am- 12 pm with occasional afternoons required due to PAL programming.
