About The Position

OhioGuidestone is the state's leader in community behavioral health care, serving around 26,000 Ohioans each year. We focus on the needs of the whole person by providing telehealth and in-person prevention services, as well as mental health and substance use treatment. As we help people navigate the most difficult times in their lives—with compassion and respect—we ultimately empower them to take steps towards a healthier future. OhioGuidestone’s Youth Residential Campus provides out-of-home care for boys and girls with complex trauma, mental health needs, academic struggles, and severe emotional and behavioral concerns, which prevent them from living safely at home. OhioGuidestone staff work with in tandem with placing agencies and caregivers to transition youth back into permanent living situations. This seasonal position offers a Monday-Friday schedule from 7:30am-3:30pm from June 1st- August 19th, with the possibility of a permanent position following summer.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.
  • Ability to take and pass a physical exam, tuberculosis test, and drug screening.
  • English reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to physically restrain residents whose ages, heights and weights vary.
  • PAARR and PAARR physical training is an essential function of the position and must be completed to the satisfaction of the instructor.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Social Service field.
  • Experience working with the adolescent population.

Responsibilities

  • Works as an integral member of the Residential Treatment team, building and maintaining strong, nurturing relationships with residents and staff.
  • Supervises residents to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment is maintained during the assigned shift.
  • Handles emergency situations such as environmental, weather-related, or physical injury.
  • Provides crisis intervention to residents according to policies and procedures.
  • Develops and consistently implements structured routines for daily functioning.
  • Plans and organizes activities and educational groups for residents to promote change and growth.
  • Implements activities consistent with the Brain Building model for treatment.
  • Completes all required documentation, including CIR’s and mandatory logs.
  • Completes all required training prior to deadline, both in-person and online.
  • Correctly utilizes PAARR and PAARR physical techniques at all times.
  • Maintains active status in all required certifications and trainings.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events or department-specific projects.
  • Exhibits positivity, flexibility, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates positive leadership, promotes a team-based work environment, and presents the agency positively.
