About The Position

The Summer Program Coordinator supports and manages the summer operations of the Ohio EPA Engaging Students and Greening UToledo Through Service (GUTS) program and the Grow Op with GUTS initiative. This position is responsible for coordinating community engagement events, native plant propagation and restoration activities, educational signage and outreach materials, and volunteer and partner communications during the summer months. The Coordinator serves as the primary point of organization for summer programming, ensuring that project activities align with grant objectives, safety protocols, and University policies while advancing environmental education, sustainability, and community partnerships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Ecology, Urban Studies, Education, or a related field
  • Experience with community engagement, environmental education, or service‑learning programs
  • Experience coordinating events, volunteers, or outreach activities
  • Strong organizational and project‑management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with faculty, students, and community partners
  • Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously and adapt to changing conditions
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to safety

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree
  • Knowledge of native plants, ecological restoration, or sustainability practices
  • Experience with digital tools (e.g., websites, QR‑linked content, learning or outreach platforms)
