Summer Materials Management Internship
About The Position
The Summer Materials Management Internship is a temporary, full-time position designed for high school students interested in exploring careers in healthcare operations. This position provides structured, firsthand experience in purchasing, inventory control, and supply chain support within a rural healthcare environment. As part of the Summer of Healthcare Internship Program, the intern will work under the supervision of the materials management team and collaborate with multiple departments across a critical access hospital and rural health clinic. The internship emphasizes learning, professional development, and exposure to healthcare systems while supporting daily operational needs.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled junior high school student entering senior year.
- Must intend to complete all graduation requirements.
- Must reside within or attend a school district in proximity to Riverwood Healthcare.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with organizational policies.
Responsibilities
- Assist with medical supply management and inventory control activities.
- Restock supply rooms and designated storage areas to support patient care.
- Support electronic departmental requisitions in accordance with procedures.
- Pick and deliver supplies and equipment throughout the facility.
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and stocking incoming freight.
- Participate in medical supply outdate monitoring as assigned.
