About The Position

The Summer Kierkegaard Library Support position provides support to HKL staff and assists researchers from around the world who attend the Kierkegaard Summer Institute. Typically works 30-40 hours per week during library summer hours (8am-8pm daily); must be available to work weekends. This position provides a foundation of work in a professional context, including communication with a variety of stakeholders (e.g., faculty, staff, students, visiting scholars, and community members), as well as general office and library duties.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a library, office or campus department
  • Able to work independently and as a team player with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable working with diverse groups

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Catalyst, Google Docs, WordPress, and/or Canva
  • Knowledge of or interest in philosophy, especially Kierkegaard
  • Danish or other Scandinavian language skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general library tasks, such as shelving books and locating resources
  • Assist with general office tasks, such as scanning and organizing documents
  • Serve as first point of contact for library patrons, answering general questions and leading library/campus orientation tours
  • Assist with various projects, such as updating website or social media, creating flyers, editing documents, compiling reports, setting up for events, and processing donations
  • Assist with other duties as assigned
