About The Position

The Palomar Summer Internship Program provides college students and early career professionals with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on, technical experience exploring a career in the insurance industry. Summer Interns will be exposed to various tasks and responsibilities within multiple technical departments at Palomar. As a growing Property & Casualty insurance organization, interns will contribute to meaningful assignments and projects that make an impact on Palomar’s growth. The program runs from June through August. Palomar Technical Department Opportunities: Interns will have the opportunity to join one technical department for the full 9-week internship. Technical departments that could be explored include but are not limited to: Data & Analytics, Product Management, Software Engineering, Automation & Process Improvement, Technology Operations & Infrastructure, Business Intelligence. At the end of the Program, all summer interns will present an overview of their Internship Project(s). The final presentation is an opportunity for interns to share their internship experience with fellow interns and Palomar team members. It also provides a way to assess the overall internship program and enhance it for the future. Additional information will be shared during orientation.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate (junior or senior year), a graduate student, pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university (preferred majors in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Sciences, Economics, or Finance)
  • Minimum of 8 weeks availability to join the program with the opportunity to expand to 10 weeks.
  • Have a passion to grow in a specific department.
  • Have maintained an exceptional grade point average in college.
  • Hybrid Work Environment - Ability to work in the office and from your home.
  • Interviews will begin October 2026
  • Offers will be finalized by February 2028

  • Preference of having passed at least 1 actuarial exam.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development, testing, or maintenance of reports, dashboards, data models, or product features
  • Assisting with automation, tooling, or process-improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce manual work
  • Collaborating with engineering, product, and analytics teams on system or product enhancements
  • Performing data validation, quality assurance, and analysis to support business decisions
  • Documenting technical processes, standards, and definitions for team reference
  • Presenting findings, recommendations, or product updates to stakeholders
