About The Position

HKS is seeking a Summer Intern to join our Structural team. This internship is for students working towards a professional degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering. Interns will work with professional engineers, engineers-in-training, and drafters on current projects, gaining experience in structural analysis and design. Responsibilities may include learning structural analysis software, using Revit for coordination and document production, and assisting with construction administration tasks. Potential for construction site visits is also included.

Requirements

• Currently a college student working to obtain a professional degree from an accredited Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering program.
• Entry level student intern on the path to Engineer-in-Training certification with little or no previous experience.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of Revit or other BIM drafting and presentation tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analysis and design of building structure components such as foundations, columns, beams and floor framing systems, lateral force resisting systems, etc.
• Learning several structural analysis software.
• Use of Revit to coordinate with architecture and other disciplines and to produce construction documents.
• Construction administration tasks such as reviewing RFIs and submittals.
• Potential for construction site visits in the vicinity of the internship.
