About The Position

HKS is seeking a Summer Intern to join our Structural team. This internship is for college students working towards a professional degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering. Interns will work with professional engineers, engineers-in-training, and drafters on current projects with close supervision. This role is an entry-level student intern position on the path to Engineer-in-Training certification.

Requirements

• Currently a college student working to obtain a professional degree from an accredited Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering program.
• Entry level student intern on the path to Engineer-in-Training certification with little or no previous experience.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of Revit or other BIM drafting and presentation tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analysis and design of building structure components such as foundations, columns, beams and floor framing systems, lateral force resisting systems, etc.
• Learning several structural analysis software.
• Use of Revit to coordinate with architecture and other disciplines and to produce construction documents.
• Construction administration tasks such as reviewing RFIs and submittments.
• Potential for construction site visits in the vicinity of the internship.
