Deriva Energy's 2027 Summer Intern Program offers motivated students the chance to gain hands-on experience, expand their skills, and make an impact in the energy industry. Interns will work on meaningful projects, learn from experienced professionals, and build connections that can launch their careers. The program will begin on May 24th and conclude in early August, based at Deriva Energy Headquarters in Charlotte, NC. We are seeking students for a 10-week program across multiple disciplines including Engineering, Project Management, Procurement & Supply Chain, Information Technology & Cybersecurity, Computer & Data Science, Finance & Accounting, Development, External Affairs, Communications & Marketing, and Human Resources.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related program aligned with functional interests.
  • Must not graduate prior to August 2027.
  • Strong academic performance in a relevant field of study.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a passion for learning.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Nice To Haves

  • Rising juniors and seniors preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
  • Rising junior or senior students.

Responsibilities

  • Work with technical teams to solve real-world challenges in renewable energy, grid modernization, and system performance (Engineering).
  • Learn how to deliver complex projects on time, on budget, and with impact (Project Management).
  • Gain exposure to supplier management, sourcing strategies, and global logistics (Procurement & Supply Chain).
  • Support innovative IT solutions and help protect digital infrastructure (Information Technology & Cybersecurity).
  • Analyze large data sets and develop insights to drive smarter business decisions (Computer & Data Science).
  • Contribute to financial planning, reporting, and analysis that guide strategic decisions (Finance & Accounting).
  • Explore how renewable energy projects move from concept to construction, working on early-stage project siting, land acquisition, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and GIS mapping (Development).
  • Support initiatives that strengthen relationships with communities, policymakers, and stakeholders, gaining experience in communications strategy, marketing campaigns, public affairs, community engagement, and renewable energy advocacy (External Affairs, Communications & Marketing).
  • Explore projects across talent acquisition, employee experience, and organizational development (Human Resources).
