About The Position

Duquesne Light Company is offering summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. The internship program will provide valuable experience and a solid start to a career in various disciplines. Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August). Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH’s Hybrid Work Model. Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university, in good academic standing, and willing to work the required schedule. Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities, aptitude for problem solving, and strong communication skills are essential. The Office of General Counsel (OGC) department is responsible for balancing risk and strict compliance with ever-changing federal regulations, and strong governmental relations. The OGC leverages the synergies between legal, compliance, internal audit and enterprise risk management, collectively providing corporate services to Duquesne Light Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiaries. The OGC also includes the Corporate Secretary function for all Duquesne entities. The OGC seeks intern(s) for full-time (40 hours/week) positions for the Summer 2026 Internship program.

Requirements

  • Second year law student at an accredited law school.
  • Full-time, degree-seeking student enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Good academic standing.
  • Willingness to work the required schedule.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities.
  • Aptitude for problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and social media screen.

  • Prior business experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with legal and compliance matters within the Office of General Counsel.
  • Support enterprise risk management functions.
  • Contribute to corporate services for Duquesne Light Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiaries.
  • Participate in the governance of the ownership group and Board of Directors as part of the Corporate Secretary function.
