About The Position

Creative Speech Solutions, LLC (CSS) is recruiting Speech Pathology or Occupational Therapy students for its six-week volunteer summer internship program supporting Camp PAL (Play and Learn), a therapeutic summer program for children with learning differences. The camp is held at Southern Blvd Elementary School in Chatham, New Jersey, a few miles from CSS’s Summit office. Camp runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from June 29 through August 5, 2027, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Interns work from 12:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to assist with setup and cleanup. The internship is intended for students seeking observation hours or volunteer experience relevant to graduate school, including requirements associated with ASHA. Interns gain hands-on experience observing and assisting certified therapists as they use therapeutic intervention strategies with children with a wide range of developmental disabilities. The program offers insight into therapy techniques and opportunities to observe children’s progress through play. Camp activities include sports, arts and crafts, music, and games, with small-group activities focused on skill acquisition and positive group dynamics. Language, social, and sensory activities are incorporated throughout the camp day to help children develop skills and apply them in real-life situations. Applicants must commit to all six weeks and attend two mandatory training sessions before camp begins. The training dates are to be determined in May or June 2027; one session will be via Zoom and the other at Southern Blvd School. Two letters of recommendation, preferably relating to experience with children, are required at or soon after the interview. The referees must send letters on letterhead directly to the specified email address. Interns who demonstrate strong performance may receive a detailed, customized letter of recommendation for graduate school.
