The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will support the manufacturing and operations team with MRU (Manufacturing Reference Units) teardown, documentation, and rebuild support activities. This role focuses on assisting with MRU unit teardown, documenting existing configurations, developing and refining work instructions, and supporting rebuild and validation to improve process consistency, safety, and efficiency.

Requirements

• Major(s): Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related Engineering/Engineering Technology discipline
• Class Year(s): Rising Junior, Rising Senior, or Recent Graduate (Bachelor’s or Master’s)
• GPA: Min 3.0
• Availability: Must be available to work in St. Petersburg Florida from May 18, 2026– Aug 7, 2026
• Familiarity with hand tools and electromechanical assembly/disassembly; ability to read and follow work instructions and basic engineering drawings; basic measurement/inspection tools (e.g., calipers, torque tools) preferred; understanding of ESD controls and safe handling practices; documentation skills including photo capture and clear written notes; Microsoft Excel and Word for tracking parts, configurations, and process documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with MRU (Manufacturing Reference Units) unit teardown activities, including part identification, labeling, and condition documentation under supervision.
• Support development, review, and revision of MRU work instructions, teardown guides, and rebuild procedures.
• Capture as-built configurations, photos, and key process details to support standardization and traceability.
• Assist manufacturing engineers and technicians during MRU rebuild, reassembly, and basic validation activities.
• Help organize tooling, fixtures, and parts kits required for MRU teardown and rebuild activities.
• Support basic inspection and verification steps to ensure rebuilt MRUs meet defined quality and safety requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by identifying process gaps, inefficiencies, or documentation issues and escalating findings to the engineering team.
• Follow all site safety procedures, including ESD controls and applicable lockout/tagout requirements, during hands-on work.
