About The Position

AEW is seeking current undergraduate juniors for its Summer 2027 Internship Program. This is an immersive 8–10 week rotational experience designed to provide exposure to all facets of the commercial real estate (CRE) industry, with a primary focus on Asset Management. The program culminates in a team-based case study presentation. Each summer, AEW welcomes a class of approximately six interns. The program runs from late May to early August.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate juniors.
  • Graduating in 2028.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • A proactive attitude.
  • Genuine curiosity about commercial real estate.
  • Availability for interviews in late October to mid-November 2026.
  • Ability to be available for the program duration from late May to early August.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in an 8-10 week rotational experience focused on commercial real estate and Asset Management.
  • Engage in a team-based case study presentation at the culmination of the program.
  • Attend orientation and onboarding sessions covering HR, compliance, IT, networking strategies, and corporate etiquette.
  • Participate in learning and development activities, including access to LinkedIn Learning and technical training.
  • Engage in weekly programming and sector rotations, including introduction to Commercial Real Estate.
  • Support assigned sector teams with ad hoc projects, gaining exposure to asset management, underwriting, and acquisitions.
  • Rotate weekly through different sector groups (e.g., multifamily, office, industrial, retail, senior housing) to gain a broad understanding of the CRE landscape.
  • Participate in quantitative training sessions focused on financial and operational metrics relevant to each sector.
  • Gain application exposure with hands-on experience using tools and platforms specific to each sector team.
  • Attend property tours to view assets in various stages of the investment lifecycle.
  • Participate in meetings and shadowing opportunities to understand day-to-day responsibilities within sector teams.
  • Participate in AEW Academy training in Excel, CoStar, and Argus.
  • Collaborate in teams to prepare an investment memo for a potential acquisition, including market analysis, financial modeling, and strategic recommendations.
  • Engage with professionals across various AEW departments, including Asset Management, Acquisitions, Architecture & Engineering, Legal, Capital Markets, Investor Relations, Research, Insurance, and Accounting.
