About The Position

The MISO 2027 Summer Internship Program is seeking students pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field for a career-igniting summer internship. Interns will contribute to MISO's critical operations by building and improving automation that helps create, configure, and secure computer systems. This role involves working with engineers to troubleshoot issues, implement fixes, and utilize tools like Ansible, Python, GitHub Actions, and Packer to enhance system reliability, resilience, and performance. The program also includes community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming, culminating in a final presentation of project work.

Requirements

  • Pursuing Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering (undergraduate or graduate).
  • Coursework or experience in operating systems, IT infrastructure, systems administration, and programming (especially Python).
  • Comfortable using or learning tools like Windows/Unix administration, Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Ansible, Packer, and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows or Linux systems, scripting, and version control.
  • Curious, collaborative, mission-driven, and eager to learn automation tools and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Available to start Wednesday, June 2nd, 2027 and continue through Friday, August 13th, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Build and improve automation that helps create, configure, and secure computer systems for MISO’s critical operations.
  • Work with engineers to troubleshoot issues, implement fixes, and see your automation make real systems more reliable and easier to deploy.
  • Use tools like Ansible, Python, GitHub Actions, and Packer to replace manual steps with faster, more consistent, and secure processes.
  • Attend community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming.
  • Present final project work, recommendations, and areas of impact at the end of the summer.
