About The Position

This is a 12-week full-time internship for Summer 2026 (May 17th - August 9th) in Preston Trail Student Ministry (middle school and high school). The intern will gain hands-on ministry, discipleship, and leadership experience. Key priorities include developing relationships with students for intentional discipleship, helping students integrate into the ministry, learning and evaluating ministry projects, assisting in creating summer programming, planning and leading ministry events, engaging in weekly service and leadership opportunities, learning to pastor students, parents, and volunteers, working with and developing volunteer teams, teaching opportunities, weekly small group leading, and full engagement in Preston Trail staff and church culture.

  • Either currently pursuing (or interested in learning more about) vocational ministry
  • Able to work effectively on-site in a fast-paced, task-shifting environment
  • Willing to take the initiative to ask questions and solicit feedback
  • Committed to full-time work for these 12 weeks, including Sundays, camp and other events as necessary
  • If taking summer school classes, only one 3-hour class allowed
  • Maximum time off is 5 consecutive days if communicated before the offer is extended
  • Must have completed 1-year in college by Summer 2027

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with students for intentional discipleship
  • Help students integrate into the ministry, connecting them with other students and leaders
  • Learn, execute and evaluate ministry projects
  • Assist in creating summer programming (events) that point students to Jesus and a welcoming environment where students can be seen, known and experience belonging
  • Plan, prep, execute and lead ministry events (Summer camp, serve trips, worship nights, etc.)
  • Engage in weekly service and leadership opportunities
  • Learn to pastor students, parents, and volunteers
  • Work with and learn how to develop teams of volunteers to execute the vision of PTSM
  • Teaching opportunities and weekly small group leading
  • Full engagement in Preston Trail staff and church culture
