About The Position

This Summer Intern - Software Developer role is within the Software Development department, reporting to the department manager. The internship provides training and hands-on experience as a full-stack professional software developer, focusing on developing, enhancing, maintaining, and supporting custom applications and interfaces to third-party products. Work will be conducted in both team and individual settings. Permanent U.S. work authorization is required; we do not sponsor employment visas or accept students on student visas.

Requirements

Permanent U.S. work authorization required; no sponsorship for employment visas or acceptance of students on student visas (e.g., F-1, CPT, OPT).
Must be a student in a Computer Science or Management of Information Systems (BS) degree program.
Must be a current student throughout the duration of the intern program.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 required.
Completed at least one programming class or provided evidence of completed projects (multiple) in one programming language.

Work well independently and within a team.
Enthusiasm for working in Microsoft technologies.

Nice To Haves

Students in their senior year (expected graduation by August or December 2027) are preferred.

Responsibilities

Train as a full-stack professional software developer through a blend of videos, reading, researching, coding exercises, and completing an initial project.
Be assigned projects from various Scrum Team backlogs after training is completed.
Perform web application development using Microsoft tools and frameworks deployed to Azure.
Develop, enhance, maintain, and support codebase of custom applications and interfaces to third-party vendor products.
Follow standards for all programming languages used.
Apply software patterns and best practices to write code and automated tests.
Utilize Azure for CI/CD, searching code repositories, updating release variables, and researching issues.
Submit Pull Requests (PR) for code changes, which will be reviewed for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to standards.
Meet regularly with the manager to provide progress updates.
Learn various parts of GuideStone’s business.
Document learnings in markdown.
