The Summer Intern – Software Developer will be part of the Software Development department, receiving training and hands-on experience as a full-stack professional software developer. Responsibilities include developing, enhancing, maintaining, and supporting custom applications and interfaces to third-party products, working both individually and in teams. Permanent U.S. work authorization is required; we do not sponsor employment visas or accept students on student visas.

Requirements

Permanent U.S. work authorization required; no sponsorship for employment visas or acceptance of students on student visas (e.g., F-1, CPT, OPT).
Must be a student in a Computer Science or Management of Information Systems (BS) degree program.
Must be a current student throughout the duration of the intern program.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 required.
Completed at least one programming class or provided evidence of completed projects (multiple) in one programming language.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Train as a full-stack professional software developer through a blend of videos, reading, research, coding exercises, and project completion.
Develop, enhance, maintain, and support codebase of custom applications and interfaces to third-party vendor products.
Work on projects pulled from various Scrum Team’s backlogs after initial training.
Primarily engage in web application development using Microsoft tools and frameworks deployed to Azure.
Write code and automated tests following standards for programming languages, applying software patterns and best practices.
Utilize Azure for CI/CD, code repository searching, release variable updates, and issue research.
Submit Pull Requests (PR) for code changes, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to standards.
Meet regularly with manager to provide progress updates.
Learn various parts of GuideStone’s business.
Document learnings in markdown.
