As an Operations Analytics Intern, you will contribute to the Operations Management Balancing and Interchange’s (OMBI) mission of supporting 24/7 grid operators by building and refining scheduling and workforce analytics. This role helps Control Room leadership stay ahead of scheduling conflicts, turnaround risks, and Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) order violations. You will gain hands-on experience with dashboarding and reporting tools such as Power BI and Excel to surface scheduling risks, data analysis using SQL and Python to identify scheduling and workforce trends, and real-world projects such as system migrations, scenario-based training design, or scheduling health indicators that feed into MISO’s Monthly Ops Metrics Review. A typical day involves reviewing overnight scheduling data, checking in with the team, pulling data in SQL, updating a Power BI view, or participating in working sessions with schedulers to understand and resolve recurring pain points. The role includes a mix of independent analysis and direct conversation with end-users. Success is measured by the impact and adoption of the developed tools and streamlined processes.
