About The Position

Allegion is seeking a Summer Intern - Operational Excellence Lean Specialist to support the Indianapolis Exits Manufacturing Plant through its Lean transformation and daily management initiatives. This role is integral to the plant’s daily operations, growth, and transformation, ensuring that Lean principles, practices, and tools are incorporated into the Allegion culture. The intern will have the opportunity to interact directly with all levels of plant operations and corporate leadership, playing a key role in implementing and supporting actions that will bring about improvements in safety, customer value proposition, quality, delivery, cycle, growth, margin expansion, and inventory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree desired in preferably a management, leadership, engineering, or supply chain course of study; relative experience could be considered.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in a position associated with lean concepts or Toyota Production System.
  • Experience in Front Line Leadership in operations and/or materials.
  • Strong written & oral communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate with various audiences.
  • Ability to positively influence and motivate teams to facilitate change.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with distribution, warehousing and/or logistics facilities a plus.
  • Some level of understanding of PowerBI, WMS, MES, and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Implement tactical strategies to achieve the desired vision and execute long and short-term objectives to support the value stream’s goals.
  • Drive Operational Excellence culture change through coaching of employees and leaders to drive Lean behaviors and follow the principles and practices of Allegion’s Operational Excellence Model.
  • Support the Lean initiatives as the Lean Specialist in collaboration with the value stream team through operational design, process improvements, and systems support utilizing value stream mapping techniques.
  • Provide effective project updates to Value Stream Leadership on key metrics and sustainability.
  • Participate in and actively direct Gemba Walks and educating others on continuous improvement including takt time attainment and Lean methodologies.
  • Implement and maintain visual performance tools.
