About The Position

The Undergraduate Summer Analyst Program at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York offers undergraduate juniors valuable work experience at a unique institution. Through dynamic, project-based work assignments and professional development activities, students gain a cohort-based learning model with a strong sense of community, real-world experience to build strong skills and knowledge, the chance to contribute to meaningful work, and opportunities to network with colleagues. Each intern receives an experienced professional mentor and access to learning events with senior leaders. Junior interns work in one specific business area or function for ten weeks, collaborating with other students and employees. The Markets Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York consists of multiple teams responsible for planning and executing open market operations, monitoring and analyzing financial market developments, and managing foreign customer accounts.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets, economics, public policy or finance
  • Strong academic record
  • Quantitative analysis skills
  • Familiarity working with spreadsheets, databases, and analytical tools (e.g. Excel, SQL)
  • Academic exposure and/or experience in international and domestic capital markets and instruments, and US monetary policy and economics
  • Ability to source, prepare, and visually represent data for written reports using common tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau)
  • Ability to perform preliminary research and help prepare data regarding foreign and domestic markets issues
  • Expected graduation between Winter 2027 Spring 2028

  • Programming experience (e.g. Python, R)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare charts, tables, graphs and other supporting documentation to be used in the research and market analysis conducted by the Group
  • Support senior staff with economic and financial data analysis
  • Help execute the Group's funds, securities, trading and settlement activities, including the preparation and maintenance of preliminary internal reports, data entry of operations results, discrepancy follow-up and resolution, and testing the implementation of new products
