About The Position
The Manufacturing Process Engineer Summer Intern will join a team of Manufacturing Engineers supporting the daily operations of a high-mix commercial door lock manufacturing facility in Colorado Springs, CO. This role will offer early career experience and real-world applications of engineering principles and problem-solving techniques. Ideal candidates for this role will have strong mechanical aptitude and an ability to learn complex product assembly processes while identifying deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
Requirements
- Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering degree path
- Mechanical design aptitude
- PTC Creo or equivalent solid modeling design software experience
- Personal time management skills
- Ability to work effectively with time and resource constraints
- Strong teamwork and internal customer-relation skills
- Effective verbal and written communication at all levels
- Ability to work both independently and within teams
- Effective data collection, analysis, interpretation, and resulting decision-making
Responsibilities
- Contribute to improvement projects to achieve financial productivity goals
- Contribute to the development and improvement of mixed-model assembly processes
- Assist in the development of process documentation and its utilization by manufacturing operations
- Design basic mechanical components/assemblies for work holding and fixturing
- Troubleshoot equipment and process failures
- Assist in capital equipment requisition and installation
- Identify opportunities for safety and quality improvements
