About The Position

The Manufacturing Process Engineer Summer Intern will join a team of Manufacturing Engineers supporting the daily operations of a high-mix commercial door lock manufacturing facility in Colorado Springs, CO. This role will offer early career experience and real-world applications of engineering principles and problem-solving techniques. Ideal candidates for this role will have strong mechanical aptitude and an ability to learn complex product assembly processes while identifying deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering degree path
  • Mechanical design aptitude
  • PTC Creo or equivalent solid modeling design software experience
  • Personal time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with time and resource constraints
  • Strong teamwork and internal customer-relation skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication at all levels
  • Ability to work both independently and within teams
  • Effective data collection, analysis, interpretation, and resulting decision-making

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to improvement projects to achieve financial productivity goals
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of mixed-model assembly processes
  • Assist in the development of process documentation and its utilization by manufacturing operations
  • Design basic mechanical components/assemblies for work holding and fixturing
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process failures
  • Assist in capital equipment requisition and installation
  • Identify opportunities for safety and quality improvements
